The Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department offers many sports leagues, clinics, and classes that focus on fundamentals, principals, rules, and sportsmanship.

Sports are a great way for youth to learn teamwork, and develop a healthy sense of competitiveness. Not to mention sports give youth the opportunity to strengthen their bodies, and develop into healthy young men and women.

Youth Leagues

Girls Youth Volleyball League (Tony Shotwell Life Center)
(Ages 9-12): The city of Grand Prairie is providing a youth summer volleyball league. The league will introduce a strong foundation of volleyball, while developing fundamental skills, and promoting self-confidence, team cooperation and sportsmanship.This is a great opportunity for your child to play a great game in a fun environment.

Kidz Love Soccer Summer Clinics

Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer (Tony Shotwell Life Center)
Ages 2-3.5: Introduce yourself and your toddler to the world’s most popular game! As you and your child participate in our fun age appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor and socialization skills. The fun happens on the field, and with Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, parents are part of the action for this 8 week class!

Tot/Pre-Soccer (Tony Shotwell Life Center)
Ages 3.5-5: Teaches the basic techniques of the game and builds self-esteem through participation and fun soccer activities. Children learn to follow instructions in a nurturing, age appropriate environment. Shin guards are required and soccer cleats optional.

Soccer 1: Techniques & Teamwork:(Tony Shotwell Life Center)
Ages: 5-6.9: Players will learn dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, & defense. Fun skill games are played at every session, and every participant will have a ball at his or her feet. Small-sided soccer matches will be introduced gradually. Shin guards are required and soccer cleats optional.

Soccer 2: Skills & Scrimmages (Tony Shotwell Life Center)
Ages 7-10: Players will enjoy advanced skill building: dribbling, passing and shooting in a team play format. Each class will focus on scrimmages that emphasize application of finer technical points. All levels are welcome to come enjoy the world’s most popular game. Shin guards are required and soccer cleats optional.

Coaches and Instructors

Youth coaches and instructors are needed!
Coaches with expertise needed in one of our many youth sport leagues. Help make a difference in a child’s life. Coaches with kids who participate will receive their registration fee back in the form of a check at the end of the season.
