Fall Gardening Series Debuts on New Night
Tuesdays starting Sept. 8, 2015

The Grand Prairie Main Library, in conjunction with the Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department host a free fall gardening series on Tuesdays in September. City Horticulturist Susan Henson presents four fun, informative talks on her most requested topics. All programs are from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

September 8: "Fall into Fun Gardening"
Fall is a great time to plant a garden that will grow through the winter with less weeding, watering, and much more fun! Grow vegetables that will not grow in the heat of summer such as Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts and many more. Leave the summer sweats behind and trade for some fun gardening!

September 15: "Landscaping on a Dime"
Learn how we can help the environment by saving our pollinators, decrease your out of pocket landscaping costs while reducing your water bills! The results will be the best looking landscape in your neighborhood and you will become the envy of your neighbors.

September 22: "Right Tree Right Place"
Take the mystery out of selecting and planting the right tree for your yard or landscape. Trees in the right location will increase property values, reduce heating and cooling costs and reduce stress! Join us and you too can be 20 degrees cooler and 20% richer when you sell your home with the right tree in the right place!

September 29: "Pruning with a Purpose"
Learn when and how to prune trees and shrubs thus increasing the life span of your trees and shrubs. Learn what Crape Murder is and take the guess work out of when you prune trees, fall blooming and spring blooming shrubs so the you will have the best and longest living landscape in the neighborhood!

Susan Henson's show, "Let's Get Growing," takes the mystery out of the to-do lists for your landscape. The show addresses monthly tasks and how to perform them properly in your yard and garden. The show also has short demonstrations on container planting, pruning and other gardening issues.
