Election for Sale of Park Land FAQ
The City of Grand Prairie is proposing the sale of approximately 24 acres of the 172-acre Central Park (i.e. Grand Central). The sale of these three tracts of land on the front-end of the property facing SH 161 between Arkansas Lane and Warrior Trail would create more opportunity for retail, restaurant and hotel development in Grand Prairie. Since commercial developers will not usually build on land that they do not own, the City is proposing the sale of part of the property so that it will attract developers. If this issue does not pass, the City could still possibly have the opportunity to do these developments through a lease. On November 8 Grand Prairie voters may approve or deny the sale of this land. The funds from this sale would be used for park improvements.
