Lynn Creek Park Closed Memorial Day Weekend
Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie will be closed Memorial Day weekend (May 21-25) due to flooding. Loyd Park is scheduled to be open although certain spaces will be closed for safety precautions. Further details will be posted to this website and the Lynn Creek Park facebook page soon.

Memorial Day Celebration
Monday, May 25 • 9:30am • Veterans Memorial • 925 Conover Dr.
Join us as we honor all service men and women at the Grand Prairie Veterans Memorial with a Memorial Day Celebration featuring an aircraft flyover, bag piper, a 21-gun salute and patriotic music for all to enjoy! A free all-american lunch will be provided after the ceremony. Following lunch, Dr. David M. Watry, author, lecturer and historian, will present "The Story Behind the Story of V-E Day" at the Memorial Library located adjacent to the event. For more information, call 972-237-8100.

Crawfish Boil
Saturday, June 6 • 10am-2pm • Farmers Market • 120 W. Main St.
The Grand Prairie Farmers Market will be open from 8am-2pm Saturday, June 6th at Market Square, 120 W. Main Street, featuring a crawfish boil from 10am-2pm, beer garden, live music, gift market, arts and crafts, and games. Tasty authentic crawfish prepared by Dustin Clement’s Head’s or Tails Cajun Crawfish will be sold for $10 a pound and will be accompanied with potatoes and corn. The crawfish will be available around 10am.

The City of Grand Prairie Public Works & Parks, Arts and Recreation Departments along with the Home Depot will be hosting the 2015 water conservation plant sale. Save on select varieties of native & adaptive drought-tolerant (low-water-use) plants that thrive in the Texas heat! Speak with plant experts and get ideas for xeriscaping (landscaping) your own lawns, participate in hourly DIY hanging basket presentations, and enter to win prizes and giveaways!

Summer Camp Begins June 8
Summer Camps begin June 8th and run for 11 weeks! $80/week/child. Limited Financial Aid is available. Camp Tuition is due weekly, preceding the start of each week. $20 Registration fee , includes a $10 t-shirt fee. A $7 Annual Center Membership Fee is required. Campers will swim twice a week and take a weekly fieldtrip. Daily lunch and a snack is included.

EPIC PlayGrand Adventures
PlayGrand Adventures is an exciting opportunity to provide a safe, fun playground experience of ‘EPIC’ proportions for all ages and abilities. The playground will include separate adventure areas which are designed to stimulate, challenge and encourage development of several skill sets while providing social interaction, sense of discovery, creativity and exercise. The playground is part of a much larger overall park project which will include the EPIC, a state of the art recreation center, EPIC Waters indoor/outdoor water park, trail system and amphitheater at Central Park.

Flight of the Monarch Sponsorship Opportunities
The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is hosting the 3rd Annual Flight of the Monarch Celebration, scheduled for September 19, 2015 at Central Park Boardwalk and surrounding areas. Last year’s Flight of the Monarch Celebration, attracted over 8000 visitors. With great weather and the success from last year, the 2015 celebration is projected to bring an even larger attendance this year. With remote parking to the event and shuttle service dropping off at the entrance will make traveling to the celebration and leaving after the celebration much easier and quicker for all. With an approval rate of 75%, Grand Prairie citizens voted to begin “The Epic” project. This legacy development will bring numerous additions to Central Park, including:  Major Recreation/Life Changing Center, indoor water park, amphitheater, library, trails, all-inclusive playground, and lake based recreation amenities.

The Walnut Creek Paddling Trali at Joe Pool Lake, brought to you by The City of Grand Prairie Parks & Recreation Department and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, is a 4.9-mile marked trail that winds though Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake. Disc Golf Mini-Tournaments at Turner Park
A brand new 18-hole disc golf course is opwn at Turner Park.
