Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation and the GPISD have teamed up with Kaboom on a Playful City USA project. City employees, park board members, and playground builders are all working together with 9th graders at South Grand Prairie High School (SGPHS) to design a playground to be built in one day. It is truly a community wide effort!

On Dec. 16 GP Parks and Recreation planners went to SGPHS to meet with Jonathan Head and his 9th grade classes to actually design a playground to be built on April 4. The planning continues as the City takes the playground design and prepares for the build day.

With childhood obesity being a major issue in society, play is a vital role in the development of healthy minds and bodies. This new playground will provide a space for children in Grand Prairie to enjoy and above all PLAY!

Dec. 16 - SGP 9th Graders design the playground
